Audi Crooks to Transfer

The whole "I care about the players who want to be here" shtick is lazy. They chose Iowa State for a reason, isn't it also fair to question why we lost every single developmental piece on the roster? Hint: it's not money since most of these girls transferred down. Audi was smart to go get paid, it's her only shot. Addy would still be a Cyclone if BF would have ran some offense through her.
“It’s not money since most of these girls transferred down”.

Seems to me you’ve stumbled onto something very important there. And I don’t think you realize it.

So the players hated each other? And they are now vacationing together in Turks and Caicos?

Evidence is clearly showing they don’t hate each other. IMO, it is NIL driven for the top talent. It’s about the money

Boy it seems like there could be one more variable to this equation that you are missing...

Kenzie Hare and Alisa Williams went to Indiana and I get Indiana has money but I don't think they left because of NIL....Alisa has made it apparent on social media that she didn't enjoy her time in Ames and it seems mostly due to coaching.
You are correct that we have had people leave but not a mass exodus like this year. I know some of the blame lands with coaches/locker room, but I do feel NIL also is playing a part. I think ISU will have a hard time keeping any big players from here on out. Not when you can go to another school and make triple what you make here. I would say there needs to be a cap but then there are other ways to paying an athlete.

These were all young guards that were always going to need to develop and BF failed in that regard. They all realized they made a huge mistake coming to a one player offense and the elected to leave.

NIL causes a few people a year to leave. It's not the root cause of an entire-team meltdown.
Just look at the number of teams losing 5 plus players. It is alot. The times are changing, free agency in College Sports. There will be more 4 year players playing at 4 schools than there will be players staying at a school for 4 years. Once common to cheer on your 4 year players is now a pipe dream with NIL.

5+ is still a far cry from our 10+. But even then, there's not enough money going around for half a roster of every team out there to get paid any meaningful amount in this sport (for now). Not even just this sport, we see that plenty in men's sports -- the number of transfers available greatly outpaces the number of roster spots open.

Look no further than us, a fairly-well-off, pedigreed WBB program...who recently admitted that our top outgoing player now gets paid more by someone else than our entire team pool amount is. There are very few Have's out there, and a ton of Have-Nots. There's gotta be more components to it than just that. Our team didn't blow up because 10+ women were all unhappy about cash payments. If it really did, then we didn't recruit the right people to begin with.

And you said yourself, they all transferred down. That’s a major point, really. Unless you think all highly paid high major coaches don’t know what they are doing.

Straight from Kenzie, she wanted to go to a new program to help with her masters. She didn't go into why she left ISU but the reason for choosing a new school.

Another tidbit from Jada- she wanted to go to a school that would help her improve her stock in the draft. I think she made an excellent choice in LSU. I know some here are not Mulkey fans, but the lady can coach.

Without knowing why they left, I feel that Jada and Addy both made excellent choices if they want to take their game to the next level and help their future. I look at Hannah Stuelke. She stayed true and I thought she had excellent skills, but not making the draft. Or Czinno (SP)

If Bill had more funds to invest there would have been less turnover, but still too much. Like all coaches, he has his limitations, though he's been adequate or better at Iowa State as his career winds down.

The bigger issue is worth noting: we're seeing multiple schools lose players in mass transfers--something that wasn't common before. This could indicate the impact of NIL nurturing "freedom." However, I'd argue it's not just about money. We're also witnessing a shift in culture: athletes now embrace the transfer portal mindset more readily, even over minor slights, real or perceived as agents wax the skis.

Well if we are going to get specific on numbers we had 9 leave. 3 for sure went for a payday. 3 at least left for Playing Time, moved down a level in schools. I know Kenzie went to where they offered her Masters program. Iowa State does not offer the 1 year program she needed, she had a no contact because of that as she visited Iowa, Indiana, Michigan and Illinois St which offered her program. So that is 7 of the transfers with reasons other than CBF to move. Beaty and Williams who knows.

That's one way to spin it.

What did I spin? 3 went for Money, 3 went for playing time, 1 went for Grad School, 2 maybe disliked Bill. What did I spin?
Saying all 3 left for money is incredibly lazy. Audi absolutely did and I don't blame her a bit but if the program wasn't a total grease fire I think both Jada and Brown stay. Brown was out the door before she even got hurt and it wasn't because of money.

Didn’t Jada and Brown sign for more than the total amount CBF had allocated for his team?

There were 5 in our conference that lost 5+ and 6 that lost 4

Whatever you say, you seem to always be correct...
