WBB: 2026 Transfer Portal

JP needs to be firm and tell Bill to do the right thing and retire else he will be forced to do what no one wants to which is fire him. Either way Bill's legacy will be tarnished as it would take a miracle to assemble a winning roster for next season and firing him would be just as embarrassing of an ending to his career. Does he really want to be remembered for staying too long and running the program into the ground after all he has done to build it up over the years?

Silence is deafening from everyone in the program and administration, absolutely ridiculous.
I don't know how with Audi leaving they'll be able to get away with saying absolutely nothing. As much of a face of the school lately as anybody. Of course, they might, but they shouldn't.

I thought she was gone too but the more this drags on starting to have a feeling she might be staying. Guessing ISU may be offering her a significant increased deal and she seems like the type that would like to stay close to home. Also, she knows she gets A LOT of shots playing at ISU where might not be the case everywhere else.

Or it could just be she is waiting for more offers to come in to decide where she is leaving to...who knows.
Guess I should have stayed with my initial gut feeling.

Just some I'm clear, we have a budget of around $1,000,000 to recruit 12 players to a school that has vastly underperformed the last 5 years, with an aging coach who likely won't be around more than a few years and who has had serious player retention issues that appears to indicate a toxic culture around his program?

Seems doable.

If I were to guess I'm assuming things are probably not in a good spot between the Administration and Coaching Staff at the moment.

Guessing Fennelly wants either an extension or a succession plan to give it to Billy and Pollard/Sanders are saying no we will give you 1 more year tops and then you "retire" or move on.

Why do posters here still suggest that Bill will be coaching ISU beyond next season? He will not be. He either decides to retire now or ride out the one year left on his contract.

And that $1M budget you reference is probably not going to be reduced by Bill's existing +$700K buyout.

I was told by a reliable source there will be a team next year.

Being optimistic, if Bill and staff are able to put together a solid team for next year and exceed all expectations (which would be to finish in top half of the league and perhaps make the dance) then his legacy wouldn’t be tarnished nearly as much as an exposure of the problems with NIL and the transfer rules. On the other hand, if the team gets a bunch of fill in players who flounder it will be a sad end to a storied career. What it will come down to is (a) recruiting players who can play as a team and then (b) doing the best coaching job the staff has ever done. It’s not like the Big 12 is a power house conference. We can expect TCU to buy another team and a couple others to be decent, but it’s pretty weak overall.

Very disappointing. JP needs to do something about this …. It’s a BF problem!
I’ve loved what Bill has done for this program and how /where he elevated it . But,…. If you watched the games this year you could notice something about him .
He needs to leave… or be fired. Period .

I am disappointed in all the transfers, but next season will be the ultimate test of coaching and should be interesting to watch at least. There is no way we are pulling high caliber players, so for once we will have to out effort the competition. I am doubtful at much success at that due to the staff's poor defensive coaching going further back than just Audi.

All that being said, Pay AJ 600K for being clone to the bone.
