WBB: 2026 Transfer Portal

Going to be interesting when the portal really opens for real how many players will pick a school quickly.
I'm interested in seeing where our players wind up at. I'm sure Brown and Jada will wind up at P4 school but everyone else I would guess many of them are going to be going to smaller schools or some possibly even have to go down a level if they want playing time. Since they chose not to stay Cyclones I don't feel bad being critical of them but Tanke is a borderline D1 player from what we saw and none of the bench players leaving are starting caliber players for power conference team IMO.

Like I have said before, go back and look at the players that have left in the portal era and it's hard to find anyone that really too a step forward at their next stop that made you wish they had stayed. Many either had similar or less production than what they had at ISU. Jada and Brown will be productive starters for someone and that will hurt knowing they could be doing that for us still, but they are probably the 2 most talented players we have lost in the portal era when you go back and look at who left previously. Donarski was a good player and hurt to see her leave but not like she took a big step up in production at UNC either.

I really don't think Bill has any plans to retire -- this season, next season, or any particular season. Pollard isn't going to force out a storied 30 year coach who makes the NCAAT either.
Bill had obvious plans to retire after next season based on the fact his contract expires at that time, he purposely constructed a roster with 8 juniors this past season (all 5 starters), and he's been telling 2026-28 HS recruits that he wouldn't commit to coaching beyond next season (only 2026-28 HS recruit is Macy Comito, an ISU legacy).

Given the current circumstances of the program and financial implications of a buyout, JP will simply let Bill's contract expire and hire his replacement after next season.

Ive been saying its those 3 lol. Never thought Audi would leave.

There is also a rumor one of the depth players might not enter the portal and possibly come back as well.
If I had to guess, I would say this rumor must be Beaty or Alisa Williams. Tanke, LT, Jenson, and Wilson were probably told they should move on.

If a portal player would come back, I'd choose among Beaty or Wilson. Both declared before Williams, and both might see an opportunity. Beauty as starting PG and Wilson as backup PG & spot off-guard minutes.

I don’t think that’s a given at all.

Not if she is better than Beaty or Wilson. By all accounts she is a heck of a player. Under the current circumstances why not ride with a player who wants to be hear.

I am assuming Comito has played pick-up games with members of last year's team. So Beaty or Wilson would have a pretty good idea how they stack up.

If Comito is the real deal, awesome. I'm just not a person who expects much from freshman who aren't 4/5 stars out of HS.

10 years ago I would agree in today's age there are plenty of Freshman ready to play and contribute right away, many just do not get the chance. With what we have on the team at thus time and who we will bring in I would be surprised if Comito does not get the chance to play.

What is your point here? Did we fail at recruiting D1 quality players? Did players just not develop at ISU? Or are you saying good players don’t leave our program? I don’t think significant roster turnover is good at any program. I think it likely points to some issue within the program, regardless why they are leaving.
