WBB: 2026 Transfer Portal

Do we think it is possible that a decision was made by ISU Ath Dept to give a higher % of NIL money to FB & MBB for next year and that several of the WBB players were actually offered less $ for the '26-'27 season than they got the last season or 2? That would be tough to accept and would motivate me to try going somewhere else; even if I did like the school, fans, & coaches.
Wow, that's some wild speculation. Know any thing to come to that theory?

defense wise of course she can improve, every player can. when was the last time that the opposing center has out scored Audi?

I would not minimize her liability defensive. On a 10 point scale, her ability to guard is a 3. Unlike offense, one weak link impacts the other 4 defenders.

And basketball contests aren't like the game of horse. In that Audi only needs to outscore the opposing center. Because a weak link on defense, makes it easier for EVERY opposing player to score.

Maybe Audi could become an average defender. But IMO it comes back to coaching. And CBF AND STAFF haven't designed a defense that can compensate for Audi's limitations.

That's X's & O's AND also not bringing in a long, athletic 4 to compliment Audi.

Per an interview with Jamie in December.
Football$13M
Men’s Basketball$5M
Wrestling$1M
Women’s Basketball$750K
Taking money from WBB to give to other sports seems barely worth the effort.
The ladies that are making a lot of money have outside deals that Jamie wouldn't really control.

I have no inside info or sources. Just an idea I came up with one my own. Probably my brain's attempt to come up with the situation that doesn't paint anyone associated with ISU as the "bad guy" but makes the "current NIL environment" the bad guy.

Was that the breakdown is for the current 2025-26 academic year? What it was for 2025 calendar year? Or what his plan is for the 2026 calendar year? I never closely followed the details of how things worked with Blum running WeWill and the transition to the Ath Dept having $20 mil for NIL to direct and the timing of all those.

This is NOT NIL, this is revenue sharing.
NIL is separate and the school is not involved. The school can facilitate hooking up athletes with people willing to pay NIL money - but my understanding is that ISU is not doing that.

I appreciate what Bill and his family have created and sustained in Ames. Players do leave for any reason…when it’s a whole team (twice in 3 seasons), it’s a different story.

Not really much to read from that statement, the only thing I would take away is that it looks like a retirement is not coming.

Looks like they are going down with the ship.

Well, I guess Bill and the family are digging in and those of us who refuse to drink the Fennelly Kool-aid/ want to go in a different direction are the problem. That seems like a great way to get people to buy back into what he’s selling.
He’s done alot of good, but it’s time. Yes there will be a team, but whether that team is good enough to compete in the Big12 is a different conversation. At this rate he’s either just going to fade into the twilight next year or go full Bruce Pearl and resign the day before the season begins in an effort to get Billy as his successor.

There's a lot to read from that statement, actually. I don’t have the energy to dissect it all. Mostly just a whole lot of denial and tone deafness and it's really tired at this point. But yeah, they are clearly circling the family wagons and have no plans to go anywhere.

Realize that action has been done a few times before, but I don't see that as a reality at ISU.

Auburns program was riding a historical high after last year. Same goes for Bobby Knight.

If CBF were to step aside during the summer, there is ZERO compelling reason for Jamie to make Jodie or Billy anything more than an interim coach.

I realize some folks on this board aren't big JP fans, especially the gaggle of posters that become very vocal during tough times, but one thing I'm confident about Jamie is he'll take the LONG VIEW.

Its funny, you never hear about anyone being "academically ineligible" anymore. That used to be a semi-frequent thing. Has it disappeared in the NIL era? Are these athletes even attending classes?

There was the case of the QB from Miami this year. He was asked about how he liked life on campus and his response was "I haven't taken a class in 2 years." I believe that was because he had graduated, though.

Academics. I do remember one of our MBB players in the 1970's missing a game. Dude was a really good student with a great GPA but some professor got mad at him and gave him an incomplete that took some effort to get cleared up.

I truly think that was the intent. With this group of players, have a great couple of years and turn it over to Billy. Except we forgot about actually gave the great years part.

This is how he is spending the $20.5 revenue share. Not really NIL. But if you opt in the Uni can use your NIL to make money. You can get your own NIL with Uni permission.

You can opt out. And have sole control of your NIL. Jada and Audi likely opted out but I have no knowledge of this.

Two things can be true at the same time: (1) That many players have had wonderful, lifechanging athletic and academic careers as part of this program; and (2) That the landscape is different now and the program needs to change with it.
Pretty much sums it up. Two eras…one about commitment, development and learning how to succeed in life. The other about marketing, making money and, in many cases, not worrying about commitment.

Rounding the wagons it seems. Personally I'm not even mad that he’s lost players, that is going to happen especially if they are highly valued. To me it’s that he didn’t do anything with them when they were here.

Also I like the no reflection on things in their control. The defense didn’t have to be so bad.
