According to this she hasn't played since December:Ashley was at the ISU wbb reunion. I was surprised she was not in France.
She has been advertising for players to work with in Iowa City for several weeks now. Been months, it seems, since she was in her French team’s box score. She went from starting to maybe 15 minutes a game.
New agreement will change teams for 2026 for sure. Teams get to protect only five players in a draft to be held in April. How that impacts Lynx and Bridget's roster spot is discussed here:
That's a really good point with it being a Canadian expansion team. You would think they will absolutely take her if she's unprotected. And, she probably will be.If she is unprotected would think BC would be an attractive target for the Toronto team since she is probably the cornerstone of the Canadian National Team now. Will be interested to see how the expansion draft will work with the majority of the league being free agents. If they are selected in the expansion draft can they sign somewhere else as a free agent?
Boxter mentions it above, but it looks like it'll more than likely be 5 players protected per team. I think they limit it to only 1 or 2 players can be taken from each team? Not 100% sure on that though with two teams drafting this time. When Golden State joined the W each team could protect 6 players. With two teams joining this time I wonder if that number will be 4 or 5.
...reportedly on April 6, the league will hold an expansion draft for its incoming franchises in Toronto and Portland. Each existing team is thought to be able to protect five players, meaning the Lynx could lose key pieces from last year’s 34-10 squad. This ESPN piece from December projected the Lynx would leave Bridget Carleton, Natisha Hiedeman and Jessica Shepard, among others, unprotected.
In the past it was limited to one. I'm guessing this time around each expansion team will be able to draft only one player from each non-expansion team, which means a non-expansion team could lose two players (one to each expansion team).Boxter mentions it above, but it looks like it'll more than likely be 5 players protected per team. I believe last time teams could protect free agents (restricted and unrestricted). If the Valkryes drafted an unrestricted free agent they could core that player, otherwise they'd remain UFA despite being drafted. They were limited to drafting only one UFA though (which makes sense because they could only core one player). You can't core a player who's already been cored twice, so UFA who had been cored twice did not need to be protected in the draft. If she is unprotected would think BC would be an attractive target for the Toronto team since she is probably the cornerstone of the Canadian National Team now. They said behind JuJu and Hannah, but I thought JuJu was redshirting this year which would give her 2 more years. I guess if she wants to.Since its WNBA talk…
Goes to show the experts for the WNBA see something the “experts” here don’t see.
