Schertz is signing a long term deal to stay at Saint Louis. Wow.

They are going to absolutely run that league.
Smart move. He can have a long run there and make the tourney a lot and doesn't have to play hardcore $$ game with recruits. A lot better than being pretty good at a P4 and getting fired because you make the tourney every other year.

I'll bet they got him close to $2.5M and SLU has the biggest NIL budget in that league by a ways. It's a great job.

With Schertz staying at SLU, it's got to be like 97% Calhoun gets the Cincy job.

And Pitt is obviously not a serious basketball program.

Thats a wild, wild decision to retain him.
Almost as wild as the decision to sign him to a three year extension 2 summers ago. Dude is NOT a good coach and his resume almost exclusively rides on two solid years at OU with Blake Griffin on the team. He's made exactly one tournament in 11 seasons as a head coach without having the #1 pick on his team lol

I guess I'm just not quite on the Schertz bandwagon just yet. All of his good D1 seasons have included Robbie Avila who's a very good mid major player. It reminds me a lot of the Stirtz and Ben McCollum run which was fine as mid major but we've all seen how that one has played out moving up. It's not that I don't think Schertz is a good/great coach, I'd just be hesitant to put all my chips in at this point if I were making a hire. I guess it mostly would depend on who else is available at the time too.

VCU and Dayton committ quite a bit to basketball too. Be interesting to see if Grant retires and who they hire if he does.
