***2026 Minnesota Vikings***

I don't want Kyler. I think he'd rather play call of duty than call plays in the NFL. But the other options this year are awful - Geno Smith, Kirk Cousins, Aaron Rodgers. Gross.

Having said that, I've kind of come to this conclusion. The ultimate goal is to find a franchise QB. Geno, Kirk, and Rodgers are a bandaid. A one year - maybe 2 year, fix. Kyler is 28. Why not take a flyer? If he is awful, you have a top 10 pick next year and can draft a QB or try to use it as ammo to trade for someone. If KOC gets the best out of him, he's a talented option. In that case, he's young enough he could be your guy for the next several years. I don't think he will be, but if those are the 4 options - at least take a chance on the guy that could have future impact instead of another one year bandaid.
I just don't think Kyler is a good KOC qb though. Kyler likes to go off script and that seems to be the exact opposite of what KOC wants. To me signing Kyler is just tying a weight around KOC's leg and throwing him into a pool.

To me it seems like KOC has the most success with a more traditional QB.

That is a very fair point. I have to think if they sign Kyler, then KOC gave the ok - especially after Kwesi's firing. If KOC doesn't want it, it won't happen.

Probably right.
So does this mean we try to convince Kirk he is now in the ‘cheap’ category as a backup?
There is no point in paying a backup more than backup money, whoever will take that should be the target.
I have no interest in starting Kirk if JJ flops or gets hurt and having him win us 7 games. This is a rebuild whether we like it or not, if only because of our QB uncertainty.

I'm a huge Vikings fan, and yes I am saying this: Cut salary and start this over. Throw #9 out there to start (he'll play in about 5 games and be injured for the rest). Get an old QB off the scrap heap for a year to back up #9. Tank this season and draft a QB in the 1st round in 2027. Kwesi was a complete disaster and you need to start over.

I know this may not be popular with some of you, but the Vikings are not close to contending... so I say blow it up and start over.

Just my 2 cents.

Send Jefferson down the road for picks

Struggling to see the upside in adding Kyler Murray..

Seems like best case we are a 9-11 win team and again not getting good draft picks or never really threatening for a title run.

This either needs a full tear-down and rebuild or we go all-in on JJ's rookie contract

The main upside is that you bring in an experienced QB for only $1.3 million. With the Vikes cap issues, that’s a big deal.
