Posts from assistant coaches that left last off season. Haylee Young leaving was very odd to me at the time but now we know why.
Also wanted to note- these 2 coaches were in Ames after the season was canceled to be with the team.
I know most of you don’t give a f*** because it doesn’t make money, but it’s still some people’s entire lives

Yeah for 99% of AD's that argument works. But Pollard had success in the "hiring a very successful athlete" to coach for the first time.
I think this hire was obviously not the right one. But it also seems like there may have been systemic program problems.
It's an ugly way for it to end, but hopefully starting something new from scratch will be more successful.
Who do you think are the greatest marketers ISU has? Who moves the needle for enrollment and public visibility? I'll give you a hint...it's not the women's gymnastics team.
You are right the only thing we can go on is the rumors of hazing, partying, drinking, protesting gymnasts, interfering parents etc. And the statement of JP of many years of problems and reviews, long before the current coaching staff was hired.

That's exactly the comp I was going to make. The Miles Greig hire was very comparable to when Fred got hired, minus the Iowa St. connection. Honestly, making a somewhat splashy hire (a notable former national championship athlete and commentator) instead of making a safe hire like an assistant from somewhere or a lower level head coach felt like the athletic department was trying to do something instead of just keeping status quo. Yes it went very poorly, but I'm not sure how it can be argued that hire was proof the department wasn't trying or was planning to end the program.
Pollard needed to clean up that video, too much saying his job his hard. But I do see a lot of people saying he's just passing the blame. They definitely own up to a bit of it by saying "Unfortunately our continued inability by our department to provide the same level of experience the other sports are having is concerning."
Seems like an unfortunate situation from all sides.
No, but I also think the football team and men’s basketball team’s impact is probably overstated. Especially if the new football hire goes as well as the last time we got a head coach from Washington State.
Would love to get your deeper perspective regarding this situation. You probably don’t have the entire story but your perspective definitely helps.
What were the issues is Jay? Were they related to leadership or coaching or both? I struggled to understand that if we had 3 investigations then the issues still persisted unless all parties didn’t sit down together and plan to tackle the issues (eg having the new coaching staffs and the upperclass SA sitting down together).
I changed job last year and my boss had been really upfront of the situation at my new place. I proactively had one on one with my team to understand their concerns with the previous leader so I could understand and handle the issues and be on the same page with my team.
It makes sense to think that after these investigations at least there should be a periodic check in and discussions among the coaches, administration and the student athletes. Apparently this didn’t happen (otherwise we wouldn’t have been in this situation.

What an absolutely ignorant statement. I get she's upset and that's fair but maybe think things through before making statements publicly. If her lack of experience is that big of a deal why not bang the drum when she was hired?
But to answer her question... yes Jamie Pollard would do exactly that if he had to.
I was just kind of going off with gymnastics had for expenses, and they can’t have too much and travel and other stuff due to what the scholarships coaching and equipment on insurance all that stuff would cost.
Breaking news: he coached at ISU under Mac, also Pitt, also Auburn before getting the head job at Iowa State…

Yep and you could argue he did the same when he turned the wrestling program over to Cael in 2006.
