***2026 Minnesota Vikings***

From what has been said on KFAN (Power Trip specifically), Drake Maye was who KOC wanted. The Vikes had a tentative deal in place with the Pats for the pick. The Pats came back and asked for an additional 4th round comp pick. Kwesi said no.

I think after that they panicked, got FOMO, and drafted JJM.

It also sounds like they really thought they were going to get Daniel Jones back and that they were going to have him compete with JJM (with McCarthy the front runner) but Jones decided to go to Indy for a better chance to start. That threw their entire plan in to chaos - and they ended up with the mess they had.
Worrying about a 4th round pick is Bears level stupidity.

The worst part is if you look at what they actually did that draft. They traded up a spot to get McCarthy and then gave up a haul to get Dallas Turner. He looks like he might be really good, but I don't think there is a Vikings fan alive that wouldn't give that all up to have gotten Drake Maye.

Kelly was definitely a miss, but I think I'd still rather go the free agent route for a center than draft one. A rookie center with a super inconsistent QB would be a disaster. A DB should be the first pick though.

I have a feeling they're going to make Blake Brandel the starting center.

They could not have written that hook any better. Every guy here is going to click on that.

The last time a Vikings defensive coordinator interviewed to be the Steelers head coach, the Vikings let him go and kept Brad Childress. That worked out well. Will the same mistake repeat itself? Honestly, I would be ok letting KOC go and make B-Flo the head coach. Coaching defense is harder in today's NFL than being a good offensive coach, and B-Flo is an elite defensive coach.

And I realize that won't happen.

Is Flores not under contract? Why would the Vikings allow for him to Interview for another DC job?

Flores is a coaching free agent. Several NFL reporters have said the Vikings feel confident that if Flores doesn't get a HC job that he will resign with the Vikings. But Flores can do anything he wants to.

Can you imagine getting a decent/great coordinator if they knew that a team WOULDN'T let him interview for a head coaching job if it came up??
