Assistant Coaches

I can’t find pff stats but auburn ranked 74th in sacks allowed in 2024

In 2025 they rank 131 out of 134 in sacks allowed. That’s obviously not all on the oline but that’s still not good.

Not sure where this account gets their stats from they clearly aren’t happy

Their QB just gets sacked. The Chiefs mostly hall of fame OL under Vermiel would have “given up a lot of sacks” with him as QB. Sacks are only on the OL to an extent, the QB needs to know when to get the ball out, when to step up, and when to escape the pocket but still get the ball out or run.

I don’t think their OL gave a bunch of free rushers to get those sacks.

It's pretty telling though when his Auburn bio says nothing about what he's accomplished in his 3 years at Auburn and talks about accomplishments from 4+ years ago. This guy's a downgrade from Clanton

He might be, but Clanton was exceptional. Auburn has averaged at least 4.7 ypc in every season he was there. Given that we're likely looking at a fairly heavy dose of running the football, that part of his resume was probably a big reason they wanted him.

Do you know when his Auburn Bio was written? The OL can only do so much without the QB or RB’s doing things.

That biography reads as if it was written when he was hired at Auburn and hasn't been touched since.

You don’t know he is a downgrade. We will find out with time. An assistant coach that spent time at both Ole Miss and Auburn is probably going to know what he is doing.

It was clearly written right when he got hired. Its unknown whether the Auburn SID just never updated it or when you search his name on google you are still getting linked to a dated page on Auburn's website and more recent bio pages have been removed (along with several of their coaches from last years staff) because they don't keep archived rosters/coaching staff directories by year like some schools do. Regardless, its a pretty wild thing to use as a justification for how good or not good a coach is.

First, you may be right and for the record, I loved Clanton and wanted him to stay. My only objection to this line of reasoning is......what really would you put in for Clanton's bio while at Iowa State? I don't think he has a lot to stand on here either. A 4th round draft pick? His numbers probably were better at UNI.

Several of the PSU commits have tagged Heacock when they announced it on X. Not sure how long he will be hanging around Ames before he heads East?

I'm inclined to think that rushing against mostly SEC D-lines carries some weight here. Looks like good numbers to me.

The Heacock silence is deafening. I'd guess he retires.
I saw Heacock retweeted Keian Kaiser's decommitment. My thinking is that Heacock liked the kid and is trying to get his name out there. And possibly that Keian was intentionally let go. What that means for Heacock, not sure.

It’s always been known he was going to Penn st as an analyst, but with their DC going to Tennessee maybe Heacock takes the DC job for a year.

I would say the OL this year was the best performing, most consistent position group on the team.

The only reason I would think he wouldn't retire, is because he's from that area. Maybe he wants to give it one final run in front of friends and family, then Campbell can poach Veidt and the defense would essentially stay the same
