Yeah, totally comparable. leaving one year after accepting an extension and gutting the business on the way out the door. All the while preaching character, loyalty etc. Totally the same thing.
Did his best players get "swooped away" by other schools? No. Has that happened in hoops as well? Again, no.
People need to stop thinking that the only football HC who will ever have success here is MC. That's just ridiculous. There were good things and bad things about his tenure. And some of the bad things were clearly due to his decisions as HC. I like him, but he's not irreplaceable.
JFC dude he turned down better jobs for a better part of 10 years. His mother is ill and he and his family feel like it's time to move back closer to home. He owes you, me, or anyone else nothing. He always said his family came first. Get a grip.
I expected him to leave at some point. But to take the Penn State job is my biggest disappointment. I hope when he got his tour of the facilities, and the administrators give him the "if these walls could talk" speel. I hope Matt Campbell hears the voices of all those children that were abused there. I dont care if they say they cleaned house of all involved. Money talks, and I am sure there are people still with some kind of role in that cover up still involved with Penn State athletics. That whole athletics program should have been wiped from the face of the earth.

Hell they put the statue of JoePa back up. The guy who knew about it but “didn’t know what that meant”. JoePa could’ve stopped it and turned in Sandusky but chose not to, and gets a statue for looking the other way!!!!
Campbell will be in full on coach speak of how it’s an honor to follow in the footsteps of those men!!
Honestly, I expected Michigan, or Notre Dame. Or the longshot of Ohio State. But what I would have been OK with? Any school outside of the big 12 or Iowa.
You don't think Penn State's proximity to where he grew up has anything to do with his decision? Oh and Penn State could win a national title. ISU can't. Nobody is going to spend their entire career in Ames. We will never be that program.
Penn State is a perfect fit for him. He's not gonna waste more time in Ames waiting for this job or that job to open up. I'm sure it's been clear to him for a while he pretty much maxed out at ISU. Id want a new challenge too honestly. Id want to see what I could do against the best. Playing Oregon, Ohio State, USC, etc... is probably more appealing than UCF, Houston, and Kansas.
My personal opinion is that any person with a moral compass should stay clear of Penn State Football. And that's not to say I dont think Campbell has a moral compass, because I do. And that's why I am disappointed
Why? Because of what happened there years ago? Should people steer clear of ISU because we had an assistant coach in the 2000s busted for possessing child porn? I mean he literally threw the evidence in a garbage can at Hilton Coliseum.
