I’m sure a few of you recall some Toledo fans (at least one) was active on here and rooted for ISU. I can understand that a bit because that is the definition of a feeder school but I think rooting for Penn State admits we can’t ever be a powerhouse program.
IIRC, that fan had a son who played at Toledo and that fan also seemed to personally know CMC. That was a whole different circumstance from any of us.

Right now I don't care enough to say I'll root AGAINST him, but I definitely won't be rooting FOR him. But the first time he says anything about playing in the"best conference"... yeah, then I will wish nothing but bad things for PSU

I reserve all my sports hatred for hoks and who we are playing next. I am not going to spend any energy sports or otherwise hating on the most successful football coach my alma mater has had.

Let's look at it this way, Campbell won't be rooting for Iowa State as he picks who he wants to take with him. And that's fine, but not sure why we'd root for him.

The only scenario where I’d ever cheer for Penn State or Baylor involves them self suspending their program for a decade as penance for the institutional rape of many dozens of victims the programs raped as an institution while never facing punishment.

Horrible choice of school if the idea is decent humans could possibly like CMC’s new school.

Would I cheer for Jeffrey Dalmer University that helped him eat people and kept on trucking with zero punishment? People are morally bankrupt.

Penn state might as well be on a different planet. I never watch them and I don’t care.

Honestly I think I will watch some out of curiosity next year. If a bunch of our best players transfer to Penn State I will be somewhat interested in seeing how they perform in new surroundings. After the initial first year has passed I will most likely have no interest at all.

My thoughts on Matt Campbell to Penn State:

I’m not going to lie — the last 36 hours have been gut‑wrenching and saddening to say the least. The man who lifted Iowa State Football to heights we never thought possible is gone in the blink of an eye, and that man is Matt Campbell.

It’s impossible to fully capture what Campbell has meant to Iowa State since arriving in Ames in 2015. He is, without question, the greatest coach to ever lead an athletic program at Iowa State University. In 10 years, he became the all‑time winningest coach in school history, took two teams to the Big 12 Title game when no one believed it could be done, delivered a school‑record 11 wins in 2024, and so much more.

He and his staff brought in incredible players, coaches, and families who forever changed the fabric of Cyclone football. We got to witness unforgettable moments: the 2017 team that put Iowa State on the national scale, the 2020 squad that shattered expectations, and the 2024 team that will forever be remembered as the best in school history. And through every storm in college athletics, Campbell stayed. He chose Iowa State when he could have left countless times, and for that, #cyclONEnation and I will always be grateful.

Yes, it hurts to see him leave for Penn State. But more than anything, I feel appreciation. He owes Iowa State nothing, and we owe him everything. His loyalty, his passion, his belief in this place — they were second to none. I’ll be cheering for him and his staff in Happy Valley, and I hope they reach the mountaintop someday.

Thank you @ISUMattCampbell. Thank you for all the countless memories and moments you brought to our lives. I can't wait to see the statue we build for you in Ames, Iowa, someday.

But as one chapter closes, another begins. A new era is here in Ames with Jimmy Rogers taking the reins as head coach. The foundation Campbell built is strong, and now it’s Rogers’ time to lead the program forward. The future of Cyclone football is still bright, and I cannot wait to see where this journey takes us all.

Thanks for following along to all of our coverage @CycloneFanatic. We will bring it to you all in the coming days. Love you, Cyclone Nation. You guys are what is still great about college sports. Best fanbase in the country, hands down.

Voted indifferent. Thanks for the memories, Matt. But you’ve decided to move on to a new challenge. Good luck, but I frankly don’t care if you succeed or fail at Penn State.

Time to move on to the Jimmy Rogers era

I don’t understand this line of thinking. I agree that Campbell doesn’t owe us anything and that 10 years was a helluva run but I’m not going to be cheering on Penn State any time soon. Well, maybe against the hawks but that’s about it.
Not getting cute with the answers, you can do that in the comments. Yes or No
I'm not cheering pedo state, I'm cheering Campbell and he's dragging pedo state along.

If Campbell is successful there and the only thing that changes is he's alotted more cash then hopefully that opens people's eyes around here before TJ walks too.

Since the last round of realignment, I have only paid attention to Big 12 football (and a little bit of Mountain West because I live half a mile from the UNM stadium) - since he’s not at a Big 12 school, he more or less has ceased to exist for me.

I root for the Iowa State players. I donate many dollars for the Iowa State players. The coaches are just a necessary inconvenience for me. Many are just an ego trip. Who is this Penn State you are referring to?
