Iowa State will host Penn State sit-out transfer Rasir Bolton for an official visit this weekend, a source confirmed to Cyclone Fanatic publisher Chris Williams on Tuesday. After being one of the Big 10’s top freshmen this past season, Bolton has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound guard averaged 11.6 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals as a true freshman for the Nittany Lions in 2018-19. He played in all 32 games with nine starts while averaging 26.9 minutes per game for Pat Chambers’ team.

A former three-star recruit from Woodstock, Va., Bolton also held offers out of high school from Clemson, Virginia Tech, VCU, Pittsburgh and a handful of other Division I programs. He was considered the No. 209 player in the country and No. 34 point guard in the 2018 class by 247Composite.

Iowa State has two scholarships open for the 2019 spring recruiting cycle following the commitment of three-star Kansas guard Caleb Grill on Tuesday. Bolton’s visit will coincide with Troy sit-one, play-two transfer Javan Johnson’s official visit to Ames.

Stay tuned to Cyclone Fanatic for more on this story.
