AMES — Early in the second half of Iowa State’s stomping of Omaha on Monday night, Monte Morris made a little bit of history. On a dime that resulted in a Deonte Burton dunk, Morris became the sixth player in Big 12 history to record 600 career assists.

Aaron Miles, Kansas, 954
Doug Gottlieb, Oklahoma State, 793
Kirk Hinrich, Kansas, 668
John Roberson, Texas Tech, 636
Diante Garrett, Iowa State, 611
Monte Morris, Iowa State, 601

Morris is now third on Iowa State’s all-time assist chart. He passed Gary Thompkins on Monday night.

Jeff Hornacek, 665
Diante Garrett, 611
Monte Morris, 601
Gary Thompkins, 600

Obviously barring anything crazy happening, Morris should hold the Iowa State record sometime early in the Big 12 season.
