RECRUITING: ISU signee Demarion Watson collects seven blocks in one game

There have been better weeks to be an Iowa State basketball fan than the last seven-day stretch for the teams, but there’s a Cyclone commit reminding people that the future remains bright.

Demarion Watson helped Totino-Grace, one of the top teams in Minnesota prep basketball, to yet another win on Friday night, doing so while recording seven blocks on the night.

Watson, a 6-foot-6 small forward, finished the night with 17 points and eight boards to go with the block party.

The big man isn’t afraid of shooting the three, either, and apparently can hold his own on the defensive end.

Watson is part of a three-player class for the incoming group slated to arrive in Ames this summer, along with Eli King and Tamin Lipsey.

The trio of players each appear in the top 200 of 247Sports’ recruiting rankings and are ranked as top five players in their states.

Watson’s next game is scheduled for Monday night against Osseo High School at home. He will square off with future teammate King next Saturday when King’s Caledonia squad visits Totino-Grace in a battle of ranked teams with Mr. Basketball candidates.
