RECRUITING: Florida linebacker commits to Iowa State

Iowa State football’s recent run of recruiting success continued on Monday when Florida linebacker Ar’Quel Smith announced his commitment to Matt Campbell’s program. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound Naples, Fla. native made his pledge public via Twitter.

Smith, who currently is not rated by the major recruiting services, chose the Cyclones over offers from Kansas, Florida Atlantic, Georgia State, Kent State, Liberty and a few FCS programs. He has also received interest from Miami (FL) since picking up an offer from Iowa State back in February.

This is Iowa State’s 19th known commitment for its 2020 recruiting class that currently ranks as the No. 33 group of pledges in the country. He joins Central Decatur product Cole Pederson and Barnesville, Minn. native Hunter Zenzen as linebackers committed to the class.
