WRESTLING: Dresser receives in-state commitment

Norwalk product Carter Schmidt committed to Iowa State Wrestling on Wednesday morning . This marks the sixth in-state commit for Kevin Dresser in the 2019 recruiting class.

In his senior season, Schmidt finished a 38-2 record and a runner-up finish at 152 pounds state wrestling. Overall, he won 133 matches in his high school career.

Earlier this month, Schmidt competed at 160 pounds at the junior men’s freestyle state tournament. He won his way to the finals by fall (3:46) against Evan Yant of Waverly but ultimately lost against Cade Devos of Waukee.

Schmidt is projected to wrestle at 157/165.

She has been fortunate enough to have interned for Cyclone Fanatic for 2 and a half years before being promoted to stay on. Jacqueline loves reading and watching trash reality TV shows when she's not watching sports.
