Recruiting Roundup: July 21, 2018

The Cyclones currently have a top 25 class according to both 247 Sports and Rivals team rankings.  Three Cyclone commits received rating boosts following the last 247 update.

Running back Breece Hall (Wichita, Kan.) jumped 9 spots at his position to No. 40 and 220 overall to land at No. 576 in the class.  The move makes Hall the third highest commit in the class.  A future Rivals update could help him climb further as 247 ranks him as the No. 9 RB in the class and the top prospect in the state of Kansas.

The second jump comes from defensive end Corey Suttle (Jefferson City, Mo.) who moved up 13 spots at his position and 144 overall.  Suttle now ranks as the No. 46 SDE and No. 730 in the class.

Offensive tackle Jarrod Hufford (Newark, Ohio) is the third recruit to climb in the rankings.  Up 15 spots in the OT rankings and 189 overall, Hufford is now the No. 83 OT and cracks the top 1000 for the 2019 class at No. 879.

BASKETBALL LATEST:

*** Iowa State offered small forward Dontaie Allen (Falmouth, Ky.) over the weekend.  Allen holds offers from 13 power conference schools including Big 12 offers from Oklahoma and West Virginia.

*** Shooting guard PJ Fuller (Seattle, Wash.) was also offered last weekend.  Fuller is rated as the No. 6 SG in the class and has 20 P6 offers, including TCU and Texas Tech out of the Big 12.

*** The Cyclone staff offered their first JUCO prospect on Wednesday for the 2019 class, extending one to power forward Ruot Monyong (Whites Creek, Tenn. and Shelton State CC, Ala.).

FOOTBALL LATEST:

*** Arizona Western JUCO linebacker Jashua Allen (Portland, Ore.) released a top five via Twitter on Saturday that included the Cyclones.  The other teams on the list are Colorado, Illinois, Utah and Washington State.  Iowa State offered on May 5th but secured a JUCO LB last week in Caleb Johnson (Murrieta, Calif.) so they might not take another.

*** Iowa State appears to be in the top four of offensive tackle Brayden Rohme (Gilbert, Ariz.), which also includes Oregon, California and Nebraska.  Rohme is from the same high school as current Cyclone QB Brock Purdy and 2019 WR commit D’Shayne James.  Iowa State offered on May 18th and he followed up with an official visit the weekend of June 15th.  The next official visit he has scheduled is to Cal next weekend.

*** Another new top target this week is tight end Keshon Williams (Longview, Texas).  The Cyclones offered on May 10th.  Williams has double digit D1 offers but ISU is the only power conference offer.

*** Iowa State is in the top six for 2020 running back  Cameron Porter (Cincinnati, Ohio) following an offer in April.  Other teams on the early list are Cincinnati, Iowa, Louisville, Minnesota and Purdue.
