Two Cyclones crack NFL.com’s Top 150 for 2017

This recent NFL.com list ranking the top 150 players in college football for 2017 was very interesting to me. The author, draft analyst Chad Reuter, doesn’t exactly go as far as to label this a top 150 draft prospects for next year, but simply refers to it as the “150 best” college football players for 2017.

Two Cyclones made the cut but probably not in the order that you expected.

Safety Kamari Cotton-Moya locked down No. 130 while wide receiver Allen Lazard was tabbed at No. 141.

Early in Cotton-Moya’s career, he was definitely a guy who was thought to have a future in the NFL but injuries have really plagued his time in Ames.

Lazard, who will likely shatter essentially every Iowa State receiving record on the books during his senior season, has the size and brain to play at the next level but explosiveness and speed have always been a concern.

The Big 12 notably has two players in Reuter’s top six – Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield (4) and Texas offensive lineman Connor Williams (6).
