AMES — Linebacker Alton Meeks is on longer an Iowa State Cyclone and intends to transfer elsewhere.

ISU athletics spokesperson Mike Green confirmed the news Wednesday afternoon.

Meeks, a 6-3, 244-point converted quartenrback, earned the starting middle linebacker spot out of fall camp last season, but saw that role last just two games. The sophomore-to-be finished 2014 with 12 tackles and a forced fumble.

Spring football starts Tuesday and Cyclone coach Paul Rhoads is scheduled to speak during next Monday’s winter sports news conference.
