"Don’t worry."

That’s what the No. 1 ranked wide receiver in college football’s 2014 recruiting class, Urbandale’s Allen Lazard, recently told the Des Moines Register’s Randy Peterson to tell Iowa State fans.

Even after a recent visit to Notre Dame, Lazard is still committed to Iowa State.

Coincidentally enough, Peterson reported that two former Iowa State assistants, Tony Alford and Bob Elliott, Hosted Lazard on his unofficially visit to South Bend.

But that’s beside the point. Lazard is a firm commitment at this point and even though he’s taken a trip here and there, he’s done nothing to show that he isn’t.

CBS Big 12 hoops rankings

After Iowa State signed DeAndre Kane a week and a half ago, I thought that would be enough to put the Cyclones as a safe No. 4 in the Big 12’s way too early preseason hoops rankings. That’s where Iowa State ended up in mine at least, just ahead of Kansas State and behind Kansas, Oklahoma State and Baylor.

CBS’ Jeff Borzello released a Big 12 offseason column on Tuesday and sure enough, the national writer has Iowa State at No. 4 as well.

It’s also notable that he has Kansas ahead of Oklahoma State for the top spot.
