Iowa State has flipped defensive back prospect LaMarcus Hicks II from Northern Illinois, the class of 2025 prospect announced Monday.

The Cyclones had Hicks II on campus during the team’s 52-7 win over Arkansas State two weeks ago, and he made his choice official over his social media channels.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pounder was set to stay in-state, but commits to Iowa State two weeks after being offered by the Cyclones.

“It’s amazing, honestly,” Hicks II said. “It’s somewhere I’ve always wanted to go. Just getting that offer – I told you I’ve always wanted to play at. My dad played there, so, I love it. It feels amazing.”

His father, LaMarcus Hicks, played two years at Iowa State as a defensive back before a two-year stint with the Detroit Lions in the NFL.

“My first time going there was actually when I was in for the game day visit,” Hicks II said. “He always told me that the tailgating would get crazy and it would really get packed there. He’d say, ‘don’t get scared, because you’re going to see a bunch of people in the crowd.”

Hicks II becomes the 14th commitment to Iowa State’s 2025 recruiting class and the first to join Deon Broomfield in the cornerbacks room.

“I fell in love with (Ames) right away. From the coaches – the way they play and the way they coach – to the tailgating,” Hicks II said. “I loved everything.”

Below are some of LaMarcus Hicks II’s highlights.
