Iowa State has landed a commitment from a three-star athlete capable of playing both sides of the ball at the collegiate level. Lakewood (Fla.) prospect T.J. Tampa announced his pledge to Matt Campbell’s program on Friday.

Tampa, who is also a standout on the basketball court, chose the Cyclones over offers from Wake Forest, Maryland, Rutgers, UCF, Toledo, USF and a handful of other programs. The 6-foot-2, 171-pound athlete who will play either wide receiver or defensive back is considered the No. 200 athlete in the class and No. 180 player in Florida by 247Composite.

The St. Petersburg, Fla. native was offered by the Cyclones back in March then took an unofficial visit to Ames for one of the program’s camps in June. He is the program’s third commit from the state of Florida and the No. 20 pledge overall.

Iowa State’s class is currently considered the No. 35 class in the country and No. 4 class in the Big 12.
