Iowa State will sport its cardinal helmets, cardinal jerseys and gray pants tonight when the Cyclones take on Texas at 7 p.m. on ESPN. The Cyclones last wore this combination in the team’s 45-42 loss to Baylor last season at Jack Trice Stadium.

I know some people are not huge fans of any part of the gray uniforms, but I like the way the look comes together with the red jersey and gray pants. On the plus side, complaints of not being able to read the numbers should be at a minimum.
I was hoping to maybe see Iowa State wear the white helmets or come out with something new on the national stage, but I’m perfectly fine with the red helmets. I guess we will have to wait and see if Matt Campbell and Co. have any new wrinkles up their sleeves for the 2017 season.
