The Iowa State defensive backfield is one of the most experienced groups on the roster and is excepted to be the strength of Jon Heacock‘s unit this season. That strength is due in large part to depth at the cornerback position led by redshirt junior Brian Peavy.

The two-time honorable mention All-Big 12 selection has tallied 144 tackles, five tackles for loss, 21 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, three interceptions and 1.5 sacks during his first two seasons with the Cyclones.

The Houston native has been a member of ESPN’s Big 12 All-Underclassman team each year he has seen action and could be in for a jump in notoriety as an upperclassman.

Peavy will be helped by D’Andre Payne‘s move to the opposite corner spot, the continued presence of safety Kamari Cotton-Moya and the addition of Georgia graduate transfer Reggie Wilkerson.

While Iowa State’s secondary is full of players with star potential, Peavy’s name could stand above the rest when the 2017 season comes to a close.
