What a weird day. That’s recruiting though.

Still, I can honestly say I’ve never seen anything like this specific case.

The quick story for those who missed it: According to Scout.com, Iowa State’s top target, Isaiah Stokes, signed with Florida a few weeks ago.

A few minutes after that story was posted, Stokes himself appeared to tweet at the Scout author: “no i have not. Could you take this down please.”

Then, Stokes deleted that tweet.

What’s going on? Friend of Cyclone Fanatic, Travis Hines (via the Ames Tribune) reported this afternoon citing a source that it appeared Stokes indeed is heading to Florida.

My sources are saying the exact same thing.

One source added that today was the first he had heard about the possible signing.

While nothing that there is A LOT about this situation that we really don’t know, let’s assume that Stokes ends up at Florida, as all signs are pointing to at this time.

What’s next for the Cyclones?

Here’s what I’m hearing.

With Lindell Wigginton, Terrence Lewis and Darius McNeil on the board, expect Iowa State to immediate frontcourt help for next year.

Iowa State has three scholarships remaining and I expect a pair to go to a JUCO along with a fifth-year post.

It’s possible that Iowa State could bank the third scholarship. It could get used up too. The pool of possible prospects when college basketball’s free agency period (transfer season) begins will likely dictate that.

As is always the case in recruiting, stay tuned.
