Three-star offensive lineman Tyler Jost has decommitted from Iowa State, per his Twitter account. Jost, who committed to the Cyclones on Jun. 25, is listed as a 6-foot-6-inch, 280-pound offensive tackle on 247.

“I was informed this week by the football coaching staff at Iowa State University that my scholarship is still being honored, but they requested that I join the team in January 2018 to “free up” space for JUCO players who could immediately start making a contribution to the OL,” the Libertyville, Ill. native wrote in the post. “I have been fully committed to playing for Coach Campbell and Coach Manning since April 2016. “We will commit to you if you commit to us” was our agreement and I honored that agreement by discontinuing discussions with other Division One football coaches that contacted me this summer and during the season. I want to thank the coaches at Iowa State University and with them the best of luck as they rebuild their program. It would have been an honor to play for Cyclone Nation. In light of the new recruiting direction, I am officially reopening my recruitment so I can consider my options to join a 2017 class.”

Jost was the highest-rated offensive line recruit in the Cyclones’ 2017 class — the sixth-highest overall. Iowa State has three offensive linemen left in the class in Iowa products Colin Newell and Alex Kleinow and Ohio prospect Jeff Nogaj.

Iowa State has 19 commits in the class which was rated No. 39 in the country before Jost’s decomitment. Stay tuned to Cyclone Fanatic for more on this story.
