The clock struck midnight on Bridget Carleton’s breakout season in the WNBA as the Minnesota Lynx were upended by New York 67-62 in overtime in game 5 of the WNBA Finals.
During the season, Carleton had become an every-day starter with the Lynx and averaging 9.9 points per game for the team.
The former Cyclone averaged 33.2 minutes per game this season – her sixth in the league.
Carleton tallied three points, six rebounds and two assists in the loss Sunday, but earned her team a spot in Game 5 Thursday night.
Carleton clinched the win for the Lynx in Game 4, nailing two free throws with two seconds remaining to give Minnesota the 82-80 lead and force Game 5.
Although the goals of a championship came up short, Carleton proved herself this season, and there are plenty of Cyclones proud of that.
