The following is a press release from Iowa State Athletics Communications:
AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State women’s basketball 2024-25 Big 12 schedule dates were announced by the conference Thursday morning.
Iowa State will play UCF, Kansas and Kansas State twice (home and away) and every other Big 12 opponent once, as announced by the league earlier this fall. Opponents were selected based on a combination of geography, historical results and a poll of the coaches to best balance the schedule in terms of travel and competitiveness.
League play begins Saturday, Dec. 21 at Oklahoma State and concludes Sunday, March 2 against Kansas State. The regular season will be followed by the 2025 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship, which will take place in Kansas City’s T-Mobile Center for the second consecutive season from March 5-10.
ISU matched its best start to conference play in program history with a 6-0 record in 2023-24, defeating Oklahoma State, Kansas, BYU, No. 24 West Virginia and No. 4 Baylor before TCU forfeited a late January contest. Iowa State finished fourth in Big 12 regular season play with a 12-6 record and earned a double bye into the quarterfinal round of the Big 12 Championship. The Cyclones went on to defeat No. 5-seed Baylor and No. 1-seed Oklahoma for their second-consecutive appearance in the title game.
Iowa State will host its first Big 12 contest on New Year’s Day, welcoming Kansas back to Hilton Coliseum to kick off the new year. The Cyclones will face conference newcomer Utah in Ames on Jan. 5. Cyclone fans can purchase season tickets here. Single-game public on sale will be announced at a later date.
