Iowa State has earned its first commitment to the 2025 recruiting class in point guard Macari Moore.

The 6-foot-3 prospect out of Ann Arbor announced his commitment over social media Monday.

“Really just all of the visits,” Moore said of what made the choice for him. “I felt like it was the best thing for me and that it was a great fit. It feels like I’m getting a great opportunity by coach (Otzelberger), and all of the coaching staff, to go there and play.”

Iowa State hosted Moore on visit most recently during the team’s game against West Virginia, which was originally rescheduled so that both of his parents could attend.

The relationship built between both sides played a factor in his decision, as well.

“It was really just the relationships that we built together with the coaching staff and my family,” Moore said. “It’s the relationships and the culture that they have there.”

Moore chose the Cyclones over other offers from Louisville, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan and Toledo.

He’s rated by 247 Sports as the No. 26 point guard in the country and becomes the latest top 150 overall player (rated at No. 146) to commit to Iowa State.

Moore has stayed tuned in on Iowa State’s Big 12 championship run in Kansas City, too.

“I’ve been watching,” Moore said. “I’ve been seeing. They’ve been playing real good basketball. Yeah, I’m just happy that I’m soon to be a part of it and envision myself in an Iowa State uniform.”

“I really just want to get ready for college and the next level,” Moore said. “It keeps me motivated to keep working with my school team and my AAU team.”
