Iowa opens as 6.5-point favorite in 2022 Cy-Hawk rivalry

Iowa junior linebacker Jack Campbell runs the ball into the end zone for a touchdown after recovering a fumble in the third quarter against Iowa State at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021.

Las Vegas expects Iowa’s reign in the Cy-Hawk football series to live on another year.

The Hawkeyes opened as a 6.5-point favorite on FanDuel in the 2022 edition of the game scheduled for Sept. 10 in Iowa City. The line has dropped to six points since it opened on Tuesday.

Iowa has won each of the last six games between the two in-state rivals, including last season’s 27-17 win in Ames. Iowa State’s last win came in 2014 when Cole Netten connected on a field goal as time expired to make the final score 20-17 in Iowa City.

Iowa State’s win total future for the 2022 season was released this week by Bet Rivers, opening at 7.5 wins.
