Iowa State rounded out its 2022 recruiting class with the traditional National Signing Day on Wednesday by adding a pair of scholarship commitments and 10 preferred walk-ons.

The first of the pair of scholarship signees came from Jontez Williams, a three-star athlete from Florida who was also offered by Tennessee Tech.

The biggest signing came in the addition of Jace Gilbert – a kicker out of Oklahoma rated as a five-star prospect by Kohl’s Kicking Camps.

Ranked in the top 20 in both categories, Gilbert will look to play both punter and kicker for the team. In high school, he also played quarterback and helped his team to a state championship.

The program added 10 preferred walk-ons as well on Wednesday, with seven of them coming from the state of Iowa.

Iowa State saw two of its 2022 targets, Cardinal Gibbons HS (Fla.) pass-rushing duo R Mason Thomas and Ahmad Moten, pick other schools at their commitment ceremonies.

Thomas, a four-star edge-rusher, flipped his Iowa State commitment to Oklahoma after committing to the Cyclones last August.

Moten had also considered coming to Ames, including visiting in December, but opted to state home and attend Miami (Fla.).
