Breece Hall is officially Iowa State’s second two-time consensus All-American.
The junior tailback from Wichita achieved that honor on Monday when he was named a first-team All-American by the Associated Press to join his first-team selection by the Walter Camp Football Foundation and second-team selection by the Football Writers Association of America.
Junior defensive end Will McDonald was named a third-team All-American by the AP, meaning he can be a consensus All-American as well with an appearance on either the American Football Coaches Association or The Sporting News teams set to be released this week. He was named a first-team All-American by the FWAA last week.
Iowa State has never had two consensus All-Americans in one season.
Hall joined Troy Davis (1995-96) as the program’s only two-time consensus pick after tallying 1,472 yards and 20 touchdowns on 253 carries in 2021. The Big 12’s two-time Offensive Player of the Year was the nation’s only repeat AP first-team All-American selection.
McDonald has solidified himself as one of college football’s best pass rushers over the last two seasons while tallying 22 sacks across two years. The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Wisconsin native is currently second in Big 12 history with 29 sacks in his career and owns the two best single-season pass-rushing performances in Iowa State history.
