Brockington named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State guard Izaiah Brockington has been named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week after averaging 19.0 points and 8.5 rebounds last week in wins over Iowa and Jackson State.

Brockington shot 65.2 percent from the field and connected on 3-of-5 three-point attempts.

The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, native was unstoppable against the Hawkeyes, connecting on 11-of-14 shots, including 3-of-5 behind the arc and 4-for-6 at the line to finish with 29 points. Brockington also pulled down 10 boards against Iowa to post his fourth double-double of the season.

Brockington followed that performance with nine points and seven rebounds in the Cyclones’ win against Jackson State.

Iowa State is 10-0 this season and ranked No. 11 in the latest Associated Press Top 25. Brockington and the Cyclones return to action on Sunday, Dec. 19 against Southeastern Louisiana.
