Another of the state of Iowa’s best high school seniors has pledged his commitment to Matt Campbell’s program.
Cedar Rapids, Prairie tight end Gabe Burkle announced his commitment to Iowa State on Twitter Wednesday evening. Burkle, who is listed at 6-foot-7, 240 pounds, is Iowa State’s third in-state commitment for the 2022 recruiting cycle.
Burkle committed to Iowa State over offers from six other schools, including Indiana, Kansas State, Michigan State, Minnesota and Nebraska. He is considered the No. 75 tight end in the country and No. 12 prospect in Iowa by the 247Composite.
Last season, Burkle caught 10 passes for 155 yards and a touchdown while helping the Hawks to a 5-3 record before losing to Cedar Rapids, Kennedy in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs.
Iowa State now has eight commitments for the 2022 recruiting class with four of them coming in the last week. Burkle is the second in-state tight end to commit to the program in the last two cycles, joining Johnston tight end Tyler Moore last year.
Iowa State’s class is currently rated as the No. 46 class in the country and No. 6 class in the Big 12.
