RECRUITING: Cyclones land commitment from Ohio OL

Cyclone Monday keeps on rolling.

Iowa State landed its third commitment of the day, and fourth in the last two days, Monday afternoon when three-star Ohio offensive tackle Sam Rengert announced his pledge to Matt Campbell’s program. The 6-foot-7, 285-pound prospect officially visited Ames over the weekend.

Rengert is considered the No. 83 offensive tackle in the country and No. 37 prospect in the state of Ohio. He chose the Cyclones over offers from West Virginia, Cincinnati, Purdue, Rutgers, Virginia, Toledo and a host of other FBS programs.

Rengert’s commitment, the 13th for the Cyclones’ 2020 group, moves the class into the top-40 nationally at No. 33. He joins in-state offensive linemen Brady Petersen and Tyler Miller plus Kansas prospect Hayden Pauls as offensive line commitments in the 2020 recruiting cycle.

Iowa State’s class is currently rated as the No. 5 class in the Big 12 with further potential additions coming in the next several days.
