Recruiting Roundup: February 26, 2019

The Cyclones signed two new players this month.  Safety Isheem Young (Philadelphia, Pa.) took an official visit the first weekend in February and ended up signing with ISU on National Cyning Day.  He is rated as the No. 56 safety and the No. 713 player in the class.

Three days after signing day, Iowa State signed athlete Daeshawn Davis (Cleveland, Ohio) over offers from Bowling Green, Kentucky and Toledo.  He took his official visit the weekend of February 2nd.

The Iowa State class is sitting at No. 48 in the country and 6th in the Big 12 by 247 Sports Composite.

BASKETBALL LATEST:

*** The Cyclones aren’t done for 2019 as they extended an offer to combo guard Harlond Beverly (Montverde, Fla.) earlier this month.  Beverly holds 16 power offers with a Big 12 offer from Baylor.

*** Iowa State also extended an offer to combo guard Clarence Nadolny (Paris, France), who the staff has been in contact with for some time.  He holds offers from Georgetown and West Virginia.

*** Class of 2021 center Ryan Riggs (West Des Moines, Iowa) visited for the TCU game.

FOOTBALL LATEST:

*** The staff visited Cyclone commitments Zach Twedt (Story City, Iowa) and Tyler Miller (Jefferson, Iowa).  Twedt became Iowa State’s first 2021 commit on January 19th.  Miller is class of 2020 and committed to Iowa State on November 29th over offers from Cincinnati, Minnesota, Nebraska, Purdue, South Dakota State and UCF.

*** Two class of 2021 offers made their way to Ames. Offensive tackle Connor Colby (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) picked up an offer on January 15th and running back Tank Young (Overland Park, Kan.) received  his first offer from the Cyclones back on December 11th.

*** Wide receiver Lawaun Powell (East St. Louis, Ill.)  is a new high interest target with the Cyclones making his top four along with Illinois, Kentucky and Nebraska.  ISU offered on January 29th.

*** Iowa State sent out 38 new class of 2020 offers since the last update, hitting Florida the hardest with 15 blessings.  The breakdown for the rest of the states is Michigan 4, Texas 3, California 2, Georgia 2, Illinois 2, Missouri 2, Ohio 2, Pennsylvania 2, Colorado 1, Louisiana 1, North Carolina 1, and Oklahoma 1.
