Recruiting Roundup: August 18, 2018

Lots of visits being taken and lined up for both sports this week.  The football staff is bringing in targets on official visits to fill that defensive back position and looking ahead to future classes.  The basketball staff with a couple new offers, a 2019 official visit scheduled and three 2020 visitors this past weekend.

BASKETBALL LATEST:

*** Power forward Luke Anderson (Lakeland, Fla.) has announced an official visit date of September 1st.  He will also visit Minnesota on the 8th and Georgia on the 15th.  Anderson is rated as the No. 42 PF in the class and has seven P5 offers.

 *** Iowa State offered combo guard Charles “Tre” Jackson (Blythewood, S.C.) on Sunday.  Jackson has 20 D1 offers but ISU is currently his only P6 offer.

*** The Cyclones hosted 2020 power forward Ben Carlson (St. Paul, Minn.) on Friday.  He already holds 11 power 6 offers, with one coming from ISU in May.  Read more from Jared here.

*** Class of 2020 point guard Jalen Terry (Mt. Morris, Mich.) was offered on a visit to Ames this weekend.  Terry attends Flint Beecher, the same high school as former Cyclone and current Denver Nugget PG Monte Morris.  He has other offers from DePaul and Iowa and is rated as the No. 16 PG in the class.

*** The third visitor this weekend was 2020 five-star center N’Faly Dante (Wichita, Kan.), who picked up an offer from ISU in April.  He holds offers from Kansas, Kentucky, LSU, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State and St. John’s.   Jared wrote about Terry and Dante’s visits last week.

FOOTBALL LATEST:

*** Paul Clark of Rivals.com reported two official visitors for the season opener on September 1st.  Iowa State will host cornerback Kym-Mani King (New Port Richey, Fla.) and linebacker/defensive back Jalen Williams (Phoenix, Ariz.) for the game against South Dakota State.

*** Class of 2020 offensive guard Josh Volk (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) will visit Ames for the season opener, according to Allen Trieu of 247 Sports.  Volk holds offers from Iowa and Iowa State.  Offensive tackle Tyler Miller (Jefferson, Iowa) previously announced he will visit the same weekend.

*** ISU will host 2021 defensive end T.J. Bollers (Tiffin, Iowa) for the Oklahoma game on September 15th, according to Dylan Burn of 247 Sports.  He already holds offers from Iowa, ISU, Minnesota and Nebraska.

*** Iowa State offered 2020 tight end Luke Lachey (Columbus, Ohio) on Saturday, joining offers from Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Kentucky, and Toledo.
