Recruiting Roundup: August 13, 2018

Iowa State basketball looking forward to 2020 this week after the conclusion of the July evaluations.  Slower week on the football trail as the dead period continues until September 1st.  ISU now has 19 commitments and with just a few more spots to fill, we should see some official visit announcements for top targets.

BASKETBALL LATEST:

*** Combo guard Mario McKinney Jr. (St. Louis, Mo.) released a top 7 via Snapchat last Tuesday.  The Cyclones made the list along with Auburn, Missouri, Kansas State, Louisville, Oklahoma State and VCU.  ISU offered the long time priority on March 15th.

*** Iowa State handed out four new offers for the class of 2020 last week.  Point guard Reece Beekman (Baton Rouge, La.),  point guard Desmond Polk (New Berlin, Wisc.), small forward Cam’Ron Fletcher (St. Louis, Mo.), and power forward Jamari Sibley (Milwaukee, Wisc.) all received offers on Tuesday.

*** Also in the class of 2020, power forward Xavier Foster (Oskaloosa, Iowa) will visit the Cyclones and Hawkeyes sometime between August 17th and 23rd, according to Matthew Bain of the Des Moines Register.

FOOTBALL LATEST:

*** In-state offensive tackle Tyler Miller (Jefferson, Iowa) will visit Ames for the season opener against South Dakota State according to Allen Trieu of 247 Sports.  This will be at least his fourth visit since Iowa State and South Dakota State became his first offers on the same day back in March.  Miller has since received offers from Cincinnati, Nebraska, Purdue and UCF.

*** ISU made the top 5 of linebacker/defensive back Jalen Williams (Phoenix, Ariz.) on Thursday.  He was offered on May 9th and the release on Twitter also included Arizona, Arizona State, San Diego State and Utah.
