Recruiting Roundup: July 7, 2018

Iowa State picked up a commitment from offensive tackle Jarrod Hufford (Newark, Ohio) on Monday.  Hufford was rated by the 247 Composite this week as the No. 98 OT and No. 1068 overall.  ISU offered on March 5th and he took his official visit to Ames the weekend of June 15th.  The 6’5″, 300-pound prospect chose ISU over power offers from Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse, Virginia and West Virginia.

The second commitment this week came today from running back Jirehl Brock (Quincy, Ill.), who has long been a top target for the staff.  He was offered back in April of 2017 and visited multiple times since, taking his official visit the weekend of June 22.  Brock initially released a top 5 which included ISU, Iowa, Minnesota, Northwestern and Purdue with plans to take an official visit to each. He later cancelled visits to Iowa and Purdue. The 247 Composite ranks him as the No. 11 RB and No. 212 overall in the class of 2019.
