Recruiting Roundup: June 9, 2018

Matt Campbell and the Cyclone football staff hosts a big man camp in Ames this weekend with a lot of visitors on hand.  See the list in the summary for a few of the known names.

Steve Prohm will host the first of what should be many 2019 targets this week with at least three scholarships available for the class.  That number will most likely grow to four or five by this time next year depending on Lindell Wigginton’s NBA prospects and attrition.

BASKETBALL LATEST:

*** Iowa State will receive a visit from power forward Tyler Wahl on Tuesday. The staff has been in contact with Wahl for awhile and watched him play multiple times before offering on May 3rd.  Wisconsin gave him his first offer on April 24th and he has picked up others from Butler,  Minnesota, and Northwestern since.

*** Class of 2020 point guard Chanse Robinson (Grambling, La.) said he will visit Iowa State, Iowa and Georgia Tech this summer according to this ZagsBlog article.  All three have offered, as well as TCU, with the Cyclones offer coming on April 13th.

FOOTBALL LATEST:

*** The Cyclones made the top 10 for offensive tackle Ira Henry (St. Louis, Mo.) last Friday. Arkansas, Illinois and Ole Miss are thought to be the leaders. Henry visited Ames on January 27th.

*** Iowa State made the top 7 for wide receiver Fabian McCray (Chicago, Ill.) on Friday. McCray has long been seen as an Illinois lean, especially after his teammate, cornerback Joseph Thompson, flipped from ISU to Illinois in April. The other five teams in his top 7 are Kentucky, Minnesota, Purdue, Rutgers and Yale.

*** Athlete Jalen Graham (Detroit, Mic.) released a top 8 via Twitter on Tuesday that included ISU, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Pittsburgh, Purdue, and Cincinnati. The Cyclones offered back in December and he visited on May 19th.

*** The staff continued its pursuit of Arizona by hosting 2020 quarterback Ben Finley (Phoenix, Ariz.) on Saturday.  The Cyclones were his second offer on May 15th, four days after Nevada became his first.

*** The Cyclones offered in-state 2020 wide receiver Cole Pedersen (Leon, Iowa) on Saturday following the Cyclones camp.  Iowa State is the first offer for the 6’4″, 190 lb. prospect.

*** On Thursday, ISU made the top 10 for defensive tackle Isaiah Gibson (Springfield, Ohio).  This one may be a long shot, as Minnesota, Wisconsin and Purdue have claimed three of his five official visits and Kentucky is also thought to be among the group of leaders.

*** A couple new high interest targets this week according to their respective 247 Sports profiles. Tight end Garrett Miller (Round Rock, Texas) shows leaders of Colorado, Iowa State and Purdue, with the Cyclones having offered just over a month ago.  JUCO wide receiver Trevon Clark (Torrance, Calif.) has leaders of ISU and Oregon State, with an offer on May 12th.
