Cyclones add commitment from Florida defensive back

Iowa State’s win over Texas Tech last Saturday is already starting to pay dividends on the recruiting trail.

The Cyclones have picked up a commitment from two-star cornerback Datrone Young, who visited Ames for the win over the Red Raiders. The Delray Beach, Fla. native is rated as the No. 225 cornerback in the class by 247 Composite.

The 5-foot-10-inch, 170-pound prospect chose Iowa State over offers from Florida Atlantic, Rutgers, Marshall, UAB, USF, Western Michigan and Wisconsin. He joins Michigan defensive back Richard Bowens as cornerbacks in Iowa State’s 2017 class.

The Cyclones are now up to 20 commits in this year’s class which ranks in the top-40 nationally. Stay tuned to Cyclone Fanatic throughout the day for more on this story.
