ISU women picked to finish tied for seventh in preseason Big 12 polls

Iowa State is coming off its first losing season since 2002-03. However, coaches around the Big 12 do expect the Cyclones to be slightly improved this year.

The Big 12 released its preseason women’s basketball poll today and Iowa State was picked to finish tied for seventh place with the Texas Tech Red Raiders. The Cyclones finished eighth in the conference last season.

Baylor was picked to win the conference after receiving nine out of the 10 first place votes. Coaches can’t vote for their own team to win the league so Baylor coach Kim Mulkey’s vote went to the Texas Longhorns.

Here are the poll results:

-Baylor (9 first place votes)

-Texas  (1 first place votes)

-Oklahoma

-West Virginia

-Kansas State

-TCU

-Iowa State

-Texas Tech

-Oklahoma State

-Kansas

Iowa State will kickoff its season on Nov. 6 against Briar Cliff University at 1 p.m. in Hilton Coliseum.
