Cyclone Fanatic is counting down the days until Iowa State’s season opener against Northern Iowa by bringing you a stat, former Cyclone moment or any other random tidbits every morning to help countdown the days.
No. 35- Levi Peters
The former linebacker from Gilmore City was the one of the most interesting dudes to ever put on a Cyclone uniform.
During his time in an Iowa State uniform, Peters sported cornrows, an American flag haircut and consistently sported one heck of a bread. But while being one interesting dude, he walked on in 2013, worked his butt off and eventually started games for the Cyclones. That year, Peters saw action in nine games and recorded 15 tackles. Then in 2014, Peters suffered a season ending Achilles injury during a kickoff.
But 2015 saw Peters become a team captain after earning the admiration of teammates. Throughout the course of last year, Peters racked up 47 tackles, six tackles for loss and four sacks. Even though 2015 was Peters junior season, it turned out to be last.
The fan favorite decided to hang up his cleats due to suffering multiple injures throughout his career in Ames. Although his career was cut short, he provided Cyclone faithful memories that will last a lifetime.
