AMES — In advance to Saturday night’s season opener against UNI, Iowa State released a very underwhelming depth chart on Monday morning. In fact, it was almost identical to what Paul Rhoads showed the media in Dallas back in July.
Some advice: Chalk down what the starters look like on Saturday night. That’s the real depth chart. This? Well, it’s simply a guide.

— Trever Ryen and Allen Lazard are both listed as starters at punt return, with an "OR" between their names.
— The same is the case at kick return where D’Vario Montgomery, Trever Ryen, Jomal Wiltz and Orion Salters all appear to be fighting for the job.
— The depth chart reads that there is still one spot up for grabs on the offensive line, as an "OR" is in between Oni Omoile and Wendell Taiese at left guard.
— There is no sign of JUCO defensive tackle Bobby Leath.
