RECRUITING: 2025 tight end Dylan Sims’ recruitment heating up

Dylan Sims, a 2025 tight end out of Arizona, has received offers from Minnesota, TCU and UCF in just the past seven days.

As his recruitment continues to heat up for the Iowa State target, Sims is realizing his potential with each addition to his list.

“It’s nice but it’s definitely a little bit overwhelming,” Sims said. “I definitely knew I was gonna get some (offers), but it’s kind of it’s interesting. It’s kind of like confirming, honestly, in my own thought. Like, I knew I was somewhat good but (it’s validating to know) I was good enough to achieve all of what I’ve gotten so far.”

The 6-foot-6, 225-pound prospect was first offered by Iowa State in January by Taylor Mouser – a fellow Arizona native and the program’s new offensive coordinator.

“I’m excited,” Sims said. “I like that – my position coach gets to be offensive coordinator. That means, to me, that he’ll know how to use tight ends in his offense, and that’s definitely a good sign for the tight ends on the team.”

Along with the heightened attention and offers, Sims is looking for a program that utilizes its tight ends to fit his playing style.

“I (look for) a more developed program,” Sims said. “I’ve watched a little bit of each team that’s recruited me, and I study all of college football, but specifically more for those (programs) who are showing interest and the ones that fit kind of my archetype as a tight end, obviously stand out a little bit more to me.

“So a tight end, for me, is someone that can get down and block in more of like an athletic style,” Sims said. “Like hooking somebody is something I picture a tight end always doing – not just fitting in into the inside the run game, but also is there to run deep and catch passes.”

Sim anticipates visiting Iowa State over the spring and summer months, but has not yet scheduled a visit to Ames.
