ISU to the Insight Bowl?

The Kansas City Star is reporting that the Insight Bowl, which picks third in the Big 12’s pecking order, is considering taking Iowa State over Missouri in that position.

Here’s the link to a story that was published earlier today by writer Mike Dearmond.

In the story, Missouri sports information director Chad Moller is quoted as saying “we’re hearing that the Insight Bowl may prefer to invite Iowa State than us. The last time they played there they brought 20,000 fans.”

Chris’ Take

If true, this is obviously unbelievable news for Iowa State’s football program and fans. An Insight Bowl appearance would likely match the Cyclones up with Minnesota, a team I think the Cyclones would beat. Plus, while Houston is nice, Phoenix is nicer. There’s really no question about that. This would be a win-win scenario for everybody involved with the program.

When I woke up this morning, I really thought that Houston would be Iowa State’s ultimate destination. Now, this has truly become a wait and see sort of scenario. Sunday can’t come fast enough!
