Iowa State football picked up its latest commitment to the 2026 recruiting class in linebacker Barry Fries.

The Elkhorn, Nebraska linebacker made his commitment official over the weekend while on campus for a spring practice.

Fries, a 6-foot-3, 224-pound prospect chose Iowa State over offers from Air Force, Wyoming, South Dakota State and Sacramento State.

He becomes the fourth player in the 2026 recruiting class, which now stands at 10 commits, out of Nebraska.

Fries is also the second linebacker to verbally commit, joining Keian Kaiser – a fellow Nebraska native.
