Iowa State head coach T. J. Otzelberger, right and assistant coach JR Blount are shown during the second half of their second round NCAA men’ s basketball tournament game Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mississippi beat Iowa State 91-78. Otzelberger went to St. Thomas More High School in Milwaukee and played at UW-Whitwater. Blount went to school at Dominican High School in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin.

Below, you will be able to follow every move Iowa State men’s basketball makes in the transfer portal this year in chronological order.

Friday, March 28

Mason Williams, a guard out of Eastern Washington, was Iowa State’s second add from the portal. The 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard excels at driving the lane and has the capability of scoring at a high volume. Williams tallied 35 points against Idaho State in January and scored 18 points or more in eight games last season.

Thursday, March 27

Eric Mulder became Iowa State’s first commitment out of the transfer portal on Thursday. The 6-foot-8, 225-pound forward out of Purdue Fort Wayne will join the Cyclones frontcourt alongside Joshua Jefferson next season. Mulder was one of the most efficient players in the country, finishing No. 13 in field goal percentage at 69.5 percent in the Summit League.

Nojus Indrusaitis announced his name for the portal on Thursday. The former four-star guard averaged 2.1 points per game for the Cyclones in the 2024-25 season. Indrusaitis showed promise early in the season, but his playing time dwindled down the stretch in conference play.

Monday, March 24

Dishon Jackson entered the portal Monday night, according to a post from Jeff Goodman. The Iowa State starter averaged 20.6 minutes per game while scoring 8.5 points and 5.1 rebounds for the Cyclones this season. Jackson was a regular contributor – the only one to have entered the portal from the group that still has eligibility left in Ames. Jackson will move to his fourth program, after starting out at Washington State and coming to Ames from Charlotte.

Kayden Fish became the third Cyclone from the 2024-25 team to enter his name into the transfer portal on Monday. Fish entered the portal after his medically redshirting during his first year, before returning to Iowa State for the past season. He appeared in nine games and averaged 0.7 points per game.

Demarion Watson entered the portal on Monday afternoon, according to a report from 247 Sports’ Travis Branham. Watson averaged 1.8 points and 2.3 rebounds per game in 8.8 minutes. The Maple Grove, Minn. native had not logged more than 10 minutes in a game since Iowa State’s matchup on the road at Houston, and before that – the earlier KU game on the road.

J.T. Rock announced Monday that he would enter the portal, as well, after spending two years in the program developing his game. The 7-foot-1 freshman did not log more than five minutes in a game during his career in Ames.
