Iowa State football coach Matt Campbell announced during a press conference Tuesday that wide receiver Daniel Jackson would be out for the rest of the season.

He was slotted to be Iowa State’s No. 3 wideout, and play a complimentary role to Jaylin Noel and Jayden Higgins.

“Daniel Jackson got injured last week,” Campbell said. “I think more than likely, he’ll be out for the year. It’s a lower leg injury.”

The Cibolo, Texas native recorded 260 yards and two touchdowns in only 16 receptions for the team last year.

Jackson’s career was threatened by a car crash he was involved in, and he missed an amount of time during the 2023 season battling injuries as well.

“Daniel is back with out football team already, but it’s just tough because he’s been through so much,” Campbell said. “I would say the one thing he’s already shown is just incredible leadership through that, and we’ll kind of just navigate where that takes Daniel as we go. We love Daniel and we think the world of him.”

Jackson finished his degree over the summer and was slated to begin his Masters program this fall in Ames.

Campbell said that the program and Jackson would have a conversation about where Jackson will go from here after the conclusion of fall camp.

“That’s, fortunately, for us the only major injury that we have right now,” Campbell said. “I think everything else is day-to-day, or we’re pulling guys out just based on where they are in their career.”
